DTAE provides a unified system of technical education, customized business and industry training and adult education with programs that use the best available technology and offer easy access to lifelong education and training for all adult Georgians and corporate citizens. This system will be part of a seamless education process for Georgia in which students can transfer credits efficiently as they advance from secondary schools to technical colleges and to the university system.
As an initiative of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education, the Georgia Virtual Technical College went online in the fall of 1998 to provide access to high quality technical programs and services over the Internet. At that time, no one anticipated the tremendous demand for such an initiative. Over 40,000 students have already taken courses through GVTC. With over 750 courses to choose from and twenty-four hour a day access, GVTC has opened a world of opportunities and rewards for students seeking an alternative to the traditional classroom experience.
We are proud to have an NAEYC Accredited Pre-K through Kindergarten program, and we employ a quality staff that educate your children with the best tools and resources available. We provide classes for pre-K through middle school.
The Department of Parks and Recreation provides recreational facilities and programs for the citizens of Rockdale County. The department operates an outdoor and indoor swimming pool and outdoor parks with playgrounds, a 650-acre lake for boating and fishing, trails, recreation center and ball fields as well as providing recreational programming. The Department offers many recreational activities for citizens of all ages and with varied interests, such as: basketball, gymnastics, aquatic classes, exercise classes, adult softball, tennis, youth basketball, swimming, and additional various programs. Also, the Johnson Park Recreation Center offers after school care and a day camp in the summer.
The Rockdale County Senior Services department provides basic support services to older residents of Rockdale County. Location:
